A soldier’s heart is torn apart by
shrapnel from a land mine. His life is saved by one of the
cardiovascular surgeons from the medical team holding the world
record for most open-heart operations. The soldier is forced to
retire from the army but, inspired by his love for his new wife and
their unborn child, he battles to earn a living. Meanwhile, the
surgeon’s wife is diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia. The pulse of
these different characters draws an electrocardiogram of the nation,
Colombia, consecrated a century ago to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in
an attempt to save it from ongoing war.
Un
soldado herido en el corazón por una esquirla de una mina
antipersonal, es salvado por un cirujano cardiovascular que hace
parte del grupo médico que más operaciones de corazón
abierto, por trauma, ha realizado en el mundo. El soldado es
expulsado del ejército, pero estimulado por el amor a su nueva
esposa y al hijo que esperan, lucha por ganarse la vida. Mientras
tanto, a la esposa del cirujano le es diagnosticada una arritmia
cardiaca. El pulso de estos personajes dibuja el electrocardiograma
de un país, Colombia, que para salvarlo de la guerra, hace un
siglo fue consagrado al Sagrado Corazón de Jesús.

Colombian
director Diego García Moreno has dedicated the past 20 years
to the creation of documentaries focusing on people, objects, places
and symbols familiar to Colombians. Simple elements such as The top,
the arepa, the tie, the bed, hammock, mat, sidewalk and the coffin
comprise an unforgettable trilogy dedicated to the territory known as
Colombia: Elemental
Colombia, Horizontal
Colombia and Colombia
with Feeling. Much of his
work is co-produced with France, where he studied film at the Louis
Lumiere National Film School, and shown on European channels and at
countless film festivals.
Con
más veinte años dedicado a la creación
documentalista explora a través de sus personajes, espacios,
objetos y símbolos, el sentido del tiempo en territorio
colombiano. Partiendo de simples elementos como el trompo, la arepa,
la corbata, la cama, la hamaca, la estera, la acera y el ataúd,
García-Moreno ha compuesto una trilogía memorable de un
territorio llamado Colombia al que le ha asignado las funciones de
elemental, horizontal y con-sentido. Gran parte de su obra es
co-producida con Francia, -país en el que realizó sus
estudios en la Escuela Nacional de Cine Louis Lumiere-, y proyectada
en canales europeos y festivales.
